Legal Privacy Policy

1. The short version

CutShit is a desktop app. Your video files, your audio, your project state — they live on your disk. We don't see them, we don't upload them, and we don't train on them. Account data (email, license, project list) is stored in Firebase so you can sign in across devices. Your footage only leaves your device if you explicitly use a cloud feature — for example exporting to Google Drive or Dropbox, or saving a cloud backup. The full list of services the app talks to is in section 6.

2. What we collect, exactly

Account data (signed-in users)

• Email address and display name — provided via Google Sign-In or email/password.
• Project metadata (name, last-modified date, thumbnail) — stored per-user in Firestore so your projects sync across installs. Project content stays local.
• License status — whether your account has an active paid license.
• Billing info — handled by our payment providers (the Microsoft Store for the app; Stripe for any web checkout). We never see or store your card number.

Compute network data (opt-in node network)

• Render job records (job ID, status, credit amount) — no video content.

Analytics & telemetry

• None. CutShit ships with no usage analytics and no crash-reporting telemetry — there is nothing to opt out of.

What we never collect

• Your video, audio, or image files.
• Your timeline, edits, or project content.
• AI-generated captions or transcripts — generated locally on your device.
• Camera, mic, or screen — only accessed while you are actively using those features.

3. Cookies and the marketing site

This website uses no third-party tracking cookies. We use Cloudflare for edge delivery and DDoS protection (their standard edge logs apply). No ad networks, no cross-site tracking.

4. Children

CutShit is not directed at children under 13. The app's opt-in compute network requires users to be 16 or over (the age of digital consent in most jurisdictions). If you are a parent and believe your child has created an account, email us at privacy@cutshit.net and we will delete it promptly.

5. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA / PDPA)

You can ask us at any time to:

• Access — export every byte we hold on you (we'll send a JSON within 30 days).
• Delete — delete your account and all associated data (done within 30 days, with a 7-day backup window).
• Correct — update incorrect account data.
• Object — there is no analytics or telemetry to opt out of; we don't collect any.

6. Where your data lives

We use the following processors, each only for the feature it powers:

• Firebase Authentication & Firestore (Google Cloud, us-central1) — your email/display name, license status, and project list.
• Firebase Storage (Google Cloud) — only files you explicitly save to cloud backup.
• Microsoft Store — processes purchases and billing for the Windows app. Stripe (SOC 2 Type II) — payments for any web checkout. We never see your card number.
• Cloudflare — R2 + Pages serve this website; a Cloudflare Worker proxies the in-app AI assistant and the optional compute network (standard edge logs apply).
• CutShit compute coordinator (Cloudflare Workers + D1) — only if you opt into the compute / node network: render-job metadata (job IDs, status, credit amounts). No video content is ever sent.
• Anthropic — the in-app AI assistant sends the questions you type (not your media) to Anthropic via our Cloudflare Worker to generate answers.
• Google Drive / Dropbox — only if you connect them, to import or export the specific files you choose.
• Royalty-free stock providers (e.g. Openverse, Pexels, Pixabay) — when you search the built-in stock library, your search term is sent to those providers to return results. No personal data.

The Microsoft Store edition does not include the payments or cloud-import features listed above.

7. International transfers

Firebase (Google Cloud) operates under Google's standard data processing terms and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If you are in the EU or UK and have concerns about data transfer, email privacy@cutshit.net.

8. Updates to this policy

If we change this policy in a material way we will email signed-in users and display an in-app notice at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The updated date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

9. Plain-English summary

Your videos stay on your machine. We store your account and project list in Firebase so you can log in anywhere. The Microsoft Store handles purchases for the app; Stripe handles any web checkout. We collect no analytics or telemetry. Email privacy@cutshit.net to export or delete your data.
